Since June...

A lot has happened since June. Matt has gotten settled into the house and I have attempted to do a little decorating. The kitchen finally has curtains and the guest bedroom, office and guest bath have been spruced up a little. I still need pictures and curtains but there is time for that.

One thing I really want to focus on during my time off in December is organizing. It seems like for only 2 people we still don't seem to have enough storage. I have a lot of wedding stuff that I can't bear to throw away that I need to find space for. I think I have it down to only a couple of totes which is impressive.

As I mentioned the kitchen has new curtain thanks to my awesome mother-in-law that can sew. Matt and I also took on the task of refinishing our dining room chairs and recovering the seat cushions. Well once again my mothering law came in handy. She helped me cover the cushions that turned out great. The Wooden chairs however are still not finished. It takes FOREVER to take the old varnish off of a single chair and we have 6. Then you have to stain it and finish it. The main thing we have left is to spray on the finish and I am hoping that is completed by Christmas. I think the chairs will be beautiful when they are finished. Grandmother will be so proud to know we are making use of her table and chairs. I think this will be rewarding to see new life come to an old dining set. The fabric I chose is a a colorful blend of blue and green. I can't wait until we finish this project!

Along with all of these projects Matt and I both celebrated birthdays in October! For the first time I was able to pick out a card from the husband section at the store which I thought was cool. We celebrated with both families which was fun. I think his favorite present was a ukulele and mandolin. He has been learning to play quiet a few new songs so I know that is exciting for him. Also we went to a Halloween party and Matt dressed like a redneck which was hilarious. I was Peyton Manning which wasn't near as exciting but was free since I already had the jersey.

Thanksgiving was great with both families. I made apple pies as my contribution to Thanksgiving. They turned out pretty well.

We also have decorated our house for Christmas in the last week which has been really fun. I love Christmas! It is definitely my favorite time of year. The inside and outside are both finished.

The day after Thanksgiving I decorated my Grandmother's tree and living room with the help of my cousin Chelsea. It was really good to spend this time with her. I remember so many fun holidays at my Grandmother's house. Our family has grown so much in the last couple of years we can't even all fit in her house anymore. Sometimes it is just really a blessing to think about all the wonderful memories you have with your family.

Last year during my time off for Christmas I went over and let her teach me how to make homemade fudge. I am looking forward to making candy with her again this year. I can't wait to see what she wants to make!

I so wish the little man wasn't coming down the beach but I love this picture! The beach was so rocky and I wasn't expecting it. The water was beautiful and clear though. That was one requirements for the honeymoon, Matt wanted to go somewhere with crystal clear water. We had a wonderful time. It was great to just relax for a week. We both needed it.

This is the cutest picture of Matt. He looks like a little model.

Now we have a tan. I think this is in Detroit.

Obviously before the trip in Nashville Airport. I was so tired I hadn't slept well the night before the wedding or the night of. I was too excited for the trip :)

The day I had dreamed of...

I really have a hard time believing the wedding is over. After weeks it seems like just a dream. It was a wonderful day. I obsessed about that day for over a year and when the day finally came it was flawless. It was everything I had hoped for and so much more. If anything went wrong I didn't know about it because I had a wonderful coordinator taking care of me. So here is my short summary of the road to the wedding day.

I had a wonderful week of the wedding. I was off work and many of my closest friends came early on in the week and we were able to spend some quality time together doing last minute wedding things. We had pedicures together on Friday which was quiet relaxing. I was on cloud nine until Matt reminded me he was going to meet me at 2 with the candy for the candy bar at the reception site!!! OH NO I had already put the candy in the car which had been sitting out in the hot sun for over an hour while I relaxed getting my pedicure. After my small coronary, I realized that the candy by some miracle had not melted. I don't know how but the chocolate and everything was fine. That was a near disaster and it would have been all my fault. So glad things worked out.

Then we had rehearsal which no one mentions is stressful. Everyone wants to know exactly what you want and how you want things. At that point you are almost to the point where you aren't even sure anymore. Rehearsal went well and then it was home to try and sleep. I slept from like 11 to 1:30 then I was up until after 3. I tried to sleep in my bed then I tried the couch. There was no sleep in sight. I then decided facebook was the only answer. I finally got a few more hours in before having to wake up and be at the hair salon by 7. I was really tired but between my friends, family and a lot of Mountain Dew (the nectar of life), somehow I made it to the church. I ate snacks all day to keep my energy up but I had no idea what a marathon a wedding day could be. I mean I am a bit of a weeny as far a stamina. Then we took pictures forever!! But I know it will be all worth it once I see how awesome they turned out. I have seen several and I am very please.

The ceremony was wonderful. I felt like God put his seal of approval on our marriage. Richard's prayer was wonderful and the songs were just beautiful. It was an amazing feeling to know that I was going to finally be Mrs. McGuire!!! Matt and I were so happy and I think it showed in the pictures. We were beaming!! There is no other feeling like knowing you just married the most wonderful person you know!

Then we headed to the reception and on the way we took some pictures at the Louisville Rd bridge. They turned out great. Then we finally got to the reception. It was the most amazing feeling to walk into a room of all of your friends and family! I was in shock at what a rush it was to be announced at Mr. and Mrs. McGuire and see all of those people that you care about so much.

The reception was great the music was fun. The kids made it so awesome. They danced more than the adults. They were all so precious. I can't wait to see all of the pictures from our big day. I guess my next post will be about the honeymoon which was amazing. Will post soon!

Ceremony arrangements, Centerpieces, Candy bars and Cakes

The flowering branches are really awesome. I wonder what branches we could get in June?

I absolutely love this centerpiece!!!

I know I want a round cake just not sure what designs. I can't make up my mind on the cake for some reason.

I don't want a pink cake I just liked the scroll work design.

Flowers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the ribbon-wrapped stems.

This is my favorite. I love the yellow center showing on this peony. the only thing I would change would be to add greenery to this.

The combination of open flowers and buds is very interesting.

The arrangement in the vase is a dahlia which I love. I am not sure if peonies are going to be in season for June 5th so I am considering dahlias as my substitute flower. Garden roses are also a option at this point (bouquet above). I am really excited about meeting with the florist. I guess I will do that in December along with 100 other things I need to be doing for the wedding. I am really going to enjoy picking out the flowers and containers to be used in my wedding. I can't wait!! On this rainy day it just makes me feel better to see these cheery flowers.

October Birthdays!!!!

The aftermath!!! So yummy.

We went to Franklin, TN to eat P.F. Chang's to celebrate our birthdays!!! This cake was called the Great Wall of Chocolate!

Loving his cake!

Matt's cake was a tribute to his favorite movie Forest Gump. "Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get."

What a cute family!

My two favorite things! Matt and Flowers!

Mallory and her presents

Matt's sister, Mallory's birthday is the 16th so we celebrated Friday night. We all went to eat and then had presents and cake after. My birthday was Saturday the 17th which was a busy day. We had family pictures and a football game to attend so we didn't really have much time for anything else that day. Matt's birthday is coming up on Friday so it will be a weekend with more birthday fun. We are going to eat at PF Chang's and I am so excited! I love that place. I will post more pics after Matt's big day!

First time Blogger

Here goes nothing... I am trying something new today. I love Facebook and I noticed that a few of my Facebook friends have a blogspot. I had to check it out for myself. I have admired from afar for several months and now I am going to give it a try. One thing I have noticed rather quickly is that my blog does not instantly look nearly as cool as my friend's :( . I guess I will learn as I go. Another thing...I wasn't sure if it was a requirement that I have a baby to have one of these. They all have the cutest babies that they are able to add pictures of. I decided I can have a page without having a baby but my pictures just might not be quite as cute. I love to take pictures so I will be putting them to good use on this blog.
